Nazareth Site - Basilica of the Annunciation
The Basilica of the Annunciation is the most famous Christian site in Nazareth. It is believed to be the home of the Virgin Mary and the place where the angel Gabriel announced to Mary that she was chosen to bear the son of God. The Basilica houses artwork from around the world and the remains of Crusader and Byzantine churches. The dome rises high above the city and appropriately reminds the visitor that the Basilica of the Annunciation is the largest church in the Middle East.
Nazareth Site - St. Joseph’s Church
St Joseph’s Church, also known as the Church of the Nutrition and Joseph’s Workshop, is located next to the Basilica of the Annunciation. The church houses an underground cavern, believed to be Joseph’s carpentry shop. It was built in 1914 on top of remains of a Crusader church.The Synagogue Church - The Synagogue Church is a 12th century church from Crusader times. Tradition maintains that it was built above the original synagogue from Roman times where Jesus first studied, prayed and later preached as a young man. The Synagogue Church is small and simple but exudes a sense of history.
Nazareth Site - St. Gabriel’s Church of the Annunciation
Nazareth st. Joseph ChurchThe Greek Orthodox believe this to be the place of the Annunciation, where the angel Gabriel spoke to Mary, announcing that she would bear the son of God. The spring in the crypt of the Church is believed to be the place where Mary used to draw water. Stones from a Crusader church were left intact around the spring.Mount Precipice – According to tradition, this is the spot where the people of Nazareth tried to hurl Jesus off the cliff in anger but where he leapt before their very eyes. Mount Precipice is the highest spot in the city with a panoramic view overlooking the Jezreel Valley, Mount Tabor, Haifa and the Mediterranean Sea.The area includes a cave that was unearthed in 1970 containing thirteen human skeletons and over 60,000 artefacts dating back 50,000 years to the Stone Age.

Nazareth Village is a reproduction of village life during Roman times. Actors dress as people of the time demonstrating typical food and clothing, agriculture and building methods. Nazareth Village brings alive ancient history.
