Jesus made his way to Jerusalem during the Passover festival where a large crowd came to meet him, giving him a warm welcome. Following his triumphal entry, Jesus created a disturbance at Herod's Temple by overturning the tables of the moneychangers who set up shop there, and claiming that they had made the Temple a "den of robbers."
Later that week, Jesus celebrated the Passover meal with his disciples, an event also known as the Last Supper.
Judas’ betrayal then led him towards his arrest. He was condemned by the Sanhedrin, taken to trial, and sentenced to death by crucifixion. Jesus was flogged by Roman soldiers and made to carry his own cross to Calvary.
Jesus was crucified at Golgotha and after hours of suffering, gave up his spirit. He was buried by Joseph in “his own new tomb that he had cut out of rock”.
Jesus appeared before his disciples a number of times, the first on the road to Emmaus, before two men who initially did not recognize him.
